At Girls on the Run, we believe every girl deserves a place to grow, connect and shine. The physical and emotional health of our girls and volunteer coaches remains our top priority.
This 8-week program begins the week of March 22. Teams of 3rd-5th grade girls will practice twice a week for 75 minutes. Teams are available throughout Nassau County and parts of Suffolk County. Girls will complete their end-of-season celebratory 5K on Saturday, June 5th at their respective sites, adhering to local guidelines. Registration is currently open as room is available for our 15-person teams.
Those interested in volunteering as a coach are encouraged to apply at www.gotrlongisland.org/coach.
REGISTRATION IS FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED. TEAM SIZE IS 6-15 GIRLS. ONCE A TEAM OF 15 HAS BEEN FILLED, YOU ARE WELCOME TO REGISTER FOR THE WAITLIST AND WE WILL MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO START AN ADDITIONAL TEAM(S).
KEY DATES AND INFORMATION
Program is scheduled to begin the week of March 22; 6-15 girls per team will meet twice per week in-person or virtually if needed at any point during the season for 16 lessons total (days/times vary by site).
Each team will hold their own site-based 5K on June 5. If we are able to have a council-wide 5K, we will notify spring season participants with all details. We continue to monitor guidelines from the CDC, state and local health departments and other public health experts.
REGISTERING YOUR GIRL
In most cases, your daughter must attend the school that hosts the Girls on the Run or Heart & Sole team to participate. The curriculum is designed for girls to attend all practices in their entirety for the full season in order to receive the full benefit of the program. Please do NOT register if your GOTR girl cannot commit to attending all practice days each week; save space for a girl who can Thank you!
We want EVERY girl to participate in Girls on the Run, regardless of her financial situation. Thanks to our generous supporters, scholarships are available at registration.
