“On This Site,” is a photo history series by featured Shinnecock artist Jeremy Dennis, and will be on display between June 4th and 29th in the multi-purpose room. Tamson Yeh from the Cornell Cooperative Extension for pest management will discuss tick monitoring, biology, and safety for the summer season on Long Island.
7/20 Connecting with Nature 10:00am-12:00pm (Multi-purpose Room)
Explore new ideas about the outdoors with photos, fun facts, watching, listening, and journaling. Led by volunteers Dianne and Gail, a talk and walk with light refreshments provided by the Friends of Wertheim. (Ages 8+)
7/27 Invasive Species Talk & Walk 10:00am-1:00pm (Multi-purpose Room/Trails)
Education and Outreach Specialist Luke Gervase of the Long Island Invasive Species Management Area (LIISMA) will give a lecture and training on identifying invasive species. Practice plant ID, meet some of our native plants, and hike the trails to find out what invasive species live at Wertheim. Bring a bagged lunch.

8/3 Fish and Wildlife Management Badge for Scouts (Registration Required)
9:30am-12:00pm (Multipurpose room/Trails) 10 spots open to Girl Scouts!
Girl Scouts (ages 11-18) are invited to join in on a co-ed Fish & Wildlife themed program at Wertheim in company with BSA Suffolk County. Gain experience with management and conservation work while meeting requirements for the Eco Trekker (Cadette), Eco Explorer (Senior), or Eco Advocate (Ambassador) badge (not provided or sold on site). Melissa Griffiths Parrott from the Central Pine Barrens Commission will discuss causes, implications, and realistic solutions to climate change on Long Island.
8/24 Sea Turtle Cold Stun Talk 10:00-11:30am (Multi-purpose Room)
Join us for a presentation on marine animal rescue efforts from the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation. Learn how to recognize cold-stunned sea turtles on the beach and how to join their emergency response team.
