Laurie has a sensitive awareness of the simplicity in nature-things that are often overlooked or taken for granted. Inspired by her surroundings, Laurie has developed her own personal style applying it to her love of Asian brush painting.
Laurie is a self taught artist, and resides in East Islip. She is a member of the Long Island Chapter of the National Sumi-e Society, The Wet Paints Studio Group Sayville. She is also a member of South Bay Art Association, PALS Plein Air Limner Society, and Patchogue Arts Council. Exhibiting her work in outdoor art festivals and galleries for more than thirty years, she has earned awards internationally and locally for paintings using various mediums.
To observe all the wonders of life around me and express the essence of what I see, using quick spontaneous strokes, is an exhilarating experience. My paintbrush dances with emotion. My goal in painting is to express my inner creativity, painting what I see not only visually, but also what I see with my heart.
